Destination: Young Australian Water Wheel, Bannockburn
Date: 22 June 2025
Description: A 13 km return walk starting at Quartzville at the bottom of Carricktown Road. The road passes through the Young Australian Historic Reserve, which has remnants of gold mining activity. Carricktown consists of a number of stone hut ruins. After climbing 700m a Doc sign marks a pegged route that leads into a gully to a massive water wheel. In the 1990s nearly all the wood on the wheel was renewed.
