First overnight club trip Aspiring Hut Warden's Quarters October 2002 |
The Club was established in 2002 and has a mix of members, some new to tramping (that’s Kiwi for bushwalking or hiking) while others have a range of experience and ability.
We operate out of the beautiful lake and alpine resort of Wanaka in the South Island of New Zealand. Wanaka adjoins the World Heritage listed Mount Aspiring National Park and is close to the World Heritage listed Fiordland National Park.
The Club is affiliated with the New Zealand Federation of Mountain Clubs [FMC].
A trip programme is issued at the start of the summer season, usually October. The programme includes one day, two day and multi day trips.
Trips are open to members and are graded so that you know the level of difficulty of each trip. Non members are also welcome. In the winter months (May through September) we have a programme of day walks that are of easy to medium grades.
Our monthly magazine,“Bootprints”, is published electronically and sent out to members via email. It features trips reports and general information for members. It is also stored on Google's Cloud Storage facility.
There is a drop down menu item above which will enable you to retrieve the latest copy, as well as back issues, from Google Cloud Storage.
