Date: Friday 19th September. Note change of date - due to the weather forecast for the weekend and the start of the school holidays.
Destination: 2 Walks Queenstown Hill & Beetham Hill.
Meeting Place: Meet at 8.30 a.m. at the lakefront carpark just south of the intersection of McDougall St with the lakefront road.
Details: We will carpool to the carpark on Belfast Tce Queenstown.
1st walk. Queenstown Hill is a 5km return track with 400m of ascent and should take us 2 1/2 hours.
The track passes the Basket of Dreams sculpture, and the summit offers an unparalleled view of Queenstown.
Lunch. We shall then travel to Ayrburn for coffee and or lunch at the Bakehouse.
2nd walk. From Ayrburn, we travel to Glencoe Rd at the top of Tobins track, where there is a small carpark.
A punchy 400m climb in just over a km to the summit of Mt Beetham. This offers superb views of Arrowtown, Cardrona and Crown Peak. We return via a different track to make a one and half hour loop with a short road walk to the cars.
