Date: Sunday, 16th of August 2026

Destination: Snowfarm, Pisa Range

Meeting Place: Meet at 8.30am at the lakefront carpark just south of the intersection of McDougall St with the lakefront road.

Details: We will carpool to the Snow Farm on the Pisa Range. People who need to get a backcountry pass and/or snowshoes, can acquire both from the Snow Farm reception. Once everyone is equipped, we will head along the DOC track to Musterer’s Flat. A little bridge will get us over the Roaring Meg and access to the backcountry. Depending on the group, snow and weather conditions we have several options around Leopold Burn, all of them leading to some rocky outcrops at the top of the range where we will have lunch and hopefully a 360-degree view. Please bring something suitable to sit on.  We return along the spur alongside the Leopold Burn back down to Musterer’s Flat. This is suitable for all members with reasonable fitness and steadiness on their feet, even if you have not snowshoed before.

Transport Cost: $15pp

Cost for hiring snowshoes for the day: $47

Backcountry Pass (if you do not have a Snowfarm pass already): $10
